STORY The Story Behind the Blossom +

December Narcissus Blossom · Ban Jieyu

December arrives with the narcissus in bloom — clear, graceful, and quietly luminous in the stillness of winter.

Ban Jieyu, a learned and accomplished woman of the Han dynasty court, is remembered through literary tradition for her refinement, intelligence, and composed voice. Her surviving writings have long been associated with reflection, dignity, and emotional restraint.

That quiet grace makes the narcissus feel especially fitting for her.

Blooming in the colder season, the narcissus carries a beauty that feels fresh rather than extravagant. Its pale petals and tender green leaves suggest clarity, renewal, and the gentle strength of beginning again.

In this sculptural Liuli wine vessel, translucent petals unfold around a luminous petite cup, touched with fresh green and soft yellow. As light passes through the Liuli, the flower appears almost weightless — cool, clear, and serene.

Pour in a little wine, and the flower changes again.

A clear spirit preserves its crystalline calm. A pale golden wine brings a warmer glow to the center, while the translucent petals continue to catch and reflect the surrounding light.

As the final blossom in the collection, December Narcissus offers a quiet moment of reflection.

It is a reminder that an ending can also hold the beginning of something new.

And when the wine is gone, the flower remains — a small work of art carrying a sense of clarity, grace, and quiet renewal into the space around it.

FOR DESIGNERS & INTERIOR STYLING

With its clear white, fresh green, and softly luminous Liuli, this sculptural narcissus brings a light, serene presence to residential, hospitality, and curated interior spaces. Its petite scale makes it especially suitable for a bar cart, dining setting, console, bedside table, bookshelf, reading space, hotel interior, hospitality suite, gallery setting, or decorative display.

Natural or ambient light passing through the translucent Liuli reveals subtle shifts of clear white, fresh green, and gentle warmth throughout the floral form. Its calm, restrained palette pairs naturally with wood, stone, glass, and neutral materials, allowing the piece to move gracefully between functional wine vessel and sculptural decorative object.

THE ART OF LIULI

Created through an intricate lost-wax casting process, each piece begins with its own mold. After the wax is removed and the Liuli undergoes high-temperature forming, the outer mold must be broken away before the piece can be carefully refined, ground, and polished.

One mold. One piece.

COLORS WITHIN THE LIULI

The colors are not painted onto the finished surface.

They are formed within the Liuli during the high-temperature process, becoming part of the material itself. As light passes through different colors and depths of Liuli, subtle variations in transparency and tone reveal the sculptural layers of the narcissus petals.

When wine or a favorite spirit is poured into the petite cup, another layer of color enters the composition. A clear spirit preserves the flower’s crystalline calm, while a pale golden wine introduces a gentle warmth at its center, creating a subtly different expression within the clear and luminous Liuli.

Because of this process, small variations may appear from piece to piece. Subtle natural bubbles and gentle flowing patterns may also appear within the Liuli. These are characteristic of the making process and contribute to the individual character of each piece, rather than being considered defects.

A LITTLE RITUAL OF YOUR OWN

Pour a little wine. Let the light pass through the flower. Sit with a book, listen to music, reflect on the days behind you, or simply enjoy a few unhurried minutes of your own.

The vessel may hold a drink, but the moment it creates can hold something more — a pause, a little beauty, and the quiet reminder that every ending can carry the possibility of a new beginning.

A blossom for the eyes. A little wine for the soul.
