STORY The Story Behind the Blossom +

November Chrysanthemum Blossom · Zhu Shuzhen

November arrives with the chrysanthemum in bloom — graceful in the cool autumn air, quietly holding its beauty as the seasons begin to change.

Among the women poets of the Song dynasty, Zhu Shuzhen is remembered for a literary voice filled with sensitivity, reflection, and a deeply personal way of seeing the world. Much of her life remains uncertain, yet the poetry that survived allows her voice to travel across the centuries.

That quiet strength makes the chrysanthemum feel especially fitting for her.

The chrysanthemum does not need the abundance of spring to bloom. It brings its own beauty to the quieter days of autumn — elegant, composed, and unmistakably itself.

In this sculptural Liuli wine vessel, warm orange petals unfold around a luminous petite cup, softened by fresh green leaves. As light passes through the translucent Liuli, amber and golden tones appear within the flower, bringing the warmth of late autumn indoors.

Pour in a little wine, and the flower changes again.

A clear spirit keeps the vessel bright and crystalline. A pale golden wine deepens its autumn glow, while a warmer amber pour brings another layer of richness to the petals. Each pour creates a slightly different mood.

For a quiet drink at the end of the day, the November Chrysanthemum is a reminder that strength does not always need to be loud.

Sometimes it is simply the grace to remain yourself through changing seasons.

And when the wine is gone, the flower remains — a small work of art, carrying its quiet beauty into the room.

FOR DESIGNERS & INTERIOR STYLING

With its warm orange and fresh green Liuli and sculptural chrysanthemum form, this piece brings a serene yet richly autumnal presence to residential, hospitality, and curated interior spaces. Its petite scale makes it especially suitable for a bar cart, dining setting, console, bedside table, bookshelf, reading space, hotel interior, hospitality suite, gallery setting, or decorative display.

Natural or ambient light passing through the translucent Liuli reveals subtle shifts of warm orange, amber, gold, and fresh green across the layered petals. Its refined autumn palette pairs naturally with wood, stone, glass, and restrained neutral materials, allowing the piece to move gracefully between functional wine vessel and sculptural decorative object.

THE ART OF LIULI

Created through an intricate lost-wax casting process, each piece begins with its own mold. After the wax is removed and the Liuli undergoes high-temperature forming, the outer mold must be broken away before the piece can be carefully refined, ground, and polished.

One mold. One piece.

COLORS WITHIN THE LIULI

The colors are not painted onto the finished surface.

They are formed within the Liuli during the high-temperature process, becoming part of the material itself. As light passes through different colors and depths of Liuli, subtle variations in transparency and tone reveal the sculptural layers of the chrysanthemum petals.

When wine or a favorite spirit is poured into the petite cup, another layer of color enters the composition. A clear spirit keeps the flower bright and crystalline, while a pale golden wine deepens its autumn glow and a warmer amber pour brings additional richness to the warm orange Liuli.

Because of this process, small variations may appear from piece to piece. Subtle natural bubbles and gentle flowing patterns may also appear within the Liuli. These are characteristic of the making process and contribute to the individual character of each piece, rather than being considered defects.

A LITTLE RITUAL OF YOUR OWN

Pour a little wine. Let the light pass through the flower. Sit with a book, read a few lines of poetry, listen to music, share a quiet conversation, or simply enjoy a few unhurried minutes of your own.

The vessel may hold a drink, but the moment it creates can hold something more — a pause, a little beauty, and a reminder that there is grace in remaining yourself through every changing season.

A blossom for the eyes. A little wine for the soul.
