STORY The Story Behind the Blossom +

October Hibiscus Blossom · Hai Lanzhu

October arrives with the hibiscus in bloom — tender, luminous, and touched with the warmth of autumn.

Hai Lanzhu, later known as Consort Chen of Guanju Palace, is remembered in Qing history for the deep affection she shared with Hong Taiji. Her life at court was not long, yet the love associated with her left an enduring impression.

That sense of tenderness and remembrance makes the hibiscus feel especially fitting for her.

Its petals open with softness and warmth, beautiful without appearing distant. Pink, coral, and gentle green meet in a flower that feels both delicate and full of life — a reminder that some of the most memorable beauty is not the loudest, but the beauty we learn to cherish.

In this sculptural Liuli wine vessel, translucent pink and coral petals unfold around a luminous petite cup, touched with fresh green beneath the bloom. As light passes through the Liuli, the colors soften, deepen, and glow from within.

Pour in a little wine, and another feeling appears.

A clear spirit keeps the flower delicate and crystalline. A pale golden wine brings warmth into the petals. A rosé deepens their romantic glow — different pours creating different memories within the same blossom.

Perhaps being cherished is its own kind of beauty.

Not every love is measured by how long it lasts. Sometimes its meaning is found in how deeply it was felt, and how tenderly it is remembered.

For tenderness, for devotion, and for the beautiful moments we choose to hold close.

FOR DESIGNERS & INTERIOR STYLING

With its translucent soft pink, coral, and fresh green Liuli and sculptural hibiscus form, this piece brings a tender, romantic warmth to residential, hospitality, and curated interior spaces. Its petite scale makes it especially suitable for a bar cart, dining setting, console, bedside table, bookshelf, reading space, hotel interior, hospitality suite, gallery setting, or decorative display.

Natural or ambient light passing through the translucent Liuli reveals subtle shifts of pink, coral, fresh green, transparency, and depth across the layered petals. Its warm yet delicate palette pairs naturally with wood, stone, glass, and restrained neutral materials, allowing the piece to move gracefully between functional wine vessel and sculptural decorative object.

THE ART OF LIULI

Created through an intricate lost-wax casting process, each piece begins with its own mold. After the wax is removed and the Liuli undergoes high-temperature forming, the outer mold must be broken away before the piece can be carefully refined, ground, and polished.

One mold. One piece.

COLORS WITHIN THE LIULI

The colors are not painted onto the finished surface.

They are formed within the Liuli during the high-temperature process, becoming part of the material itself. As light passes through different colors and depths of Liuli, subtle variations in transparency and tone reveal the sculptural layers of the hibiscus petals.

When wine or a favorite spirit is poured into the petite cup, another layer of color enters the composition. A clear spirit preserves the flower’s delicate crystalline quality, while a pale golden wine introduces warmth and a rosé deepens the romantic glow of the pink and coral Liuli.

Because of this process, small variations may appear from piece to piece. Subtle natural bubbles and gentle flowing patterns may also appear within the Liuli. These are characteristic of the making process and contribute to the individual character of each piece, rather than being considered defects.

A LITTLE RITUAL OF YOUR OWN

Pour a little wine. Let the light pass through the flower. Sit with a book, listen to music, share a quiet conversation, remember someone dear to you, or simply enjoy a few unhurried minutes of your own.

The vessel may hold a drink, but the moment it creates can hold something more — a pause, a little beauty, and a reminder to cherish the people and moments that remain close to the heart.

A blossom for the eyes. A little wine for the soul.
